DOG WALKING

The Dog House NYC offers solo walks, SOCIAL WALKS, and training walks

Our experience as boarders underlies our social walks—we recognize how much our dogs like their own pals. We also know how good exercise during the day makes for a quiet and contented dog at home. Because safety is our overriding concern, we structure our playgroups so that they are small, averaging two or three dogs in a group.

We know there are those who think a solo walk is somehow superior. Our view is different: we think a solo walk is too often a lonely walk. But we recognize that some dogs have a genuine need to be walked alone, and for them we provide solo walks.

TRAINING WALKS

Level 1

$200/hr; $480 for three-hour package; $810 for six-hour package.

Level one training is for the dog (or the dog and human team) who needs education on how to walk nicely on city streets.  Heather, who is an experienced and certified dog trainer, works with the dog at the training rate.

TRAINING WALKS

Level 2

$50/hr

Level two is for the dog who has already received our walking education and is looking for sustained practice and support.   This back-up is delivered by our walkers who are taught to practice training protocols.

SOCIAL WALKS

To be successful, social walks must be formed with dogs who live close to each other in order to maximize the time spent in the dog run and minimize the pick-up and drop-off time. For this reason, it is not always possible to place a dog in a social walk at first. When this situation arises, we recommend that the dog subscribe to a 1-hour solo walk that joins him in the run with an existing playgroup, and we place his name on a list of dogs on or near his block who may in time form their own social walk.

In Case of an Emergency

In spite of our best efforts, sometimes things do happen on a dog walk. We want you to know our walkers have back-up for all kinds of emergencies.  If urgent care is required, we take your dog to the nearest vet or hospital.  If not so urgent, we visit your designated vet.  In every case, we make every effort to reach you.  Please do your part by making sure your Service Agreement is current with contact numbers and vet names.
