DOG BOARDING NYC UPPER WEST SIDE

A typical day - dog boarding in the dog house nyc

Meal time is Best time at The Dog House NYC!

A typical boarding day starts with a two-hour walk in a neighboring park (Riverside, Morningside or Central Park), breakfast around 8:30, in-house roughhouse for about half an hour, naps until early afternoon, another two hours outdoors at a nearby dog run, early supper at 4:00, lounging about, a bedtime stroll around the block and early retirement.

Dog toys, treats, and beds abound, and there are usually a sufficient number of human laps to accommodate demand. Guests are free to roam, help with housework, guard the front door and generally do what they do at home. A large crate is set up for those who want it.

Boarding must be limited to a few dogs, so get your reservations in early. You’d be surprised how far in advance some people plan. Bring a waiver, food & medicine, proof of inoculations, and a collar with tags, but nothing else. Drop off time is at 9 am or by special arrangement and pick-ups are any time before closing, at 8:00 pm.

Please consult our Rates page, but please also take note of two additional facts affecting rates:

Snuggle Up, Kids! at The Dog House NYC

1) We only accept morning drop-offs. Although our drop-off time is 9 am, we can by special arrangement receive dogs from 6:30 am until noon. We do not accept afternoon or evening drop-offs because our guests need to spend time with us and with each other in order to satisfy their basic questions: Yes, you will be fed. Yes, you will be taken out. Yes, the other dogs are quite nice and you will be quite safe and happy here.

2) Dogs must be picked up by 9 am to qualify for the one-day rate. After 9 am, we charge an additional $5 per hour until noon, and after noon we charge for an extra day. And unlike people hotels, we charge by the day here, not the night. You, after all, don’t need so many walks!

We regret we cannot take certain types of dogs: unneutered males; females in heat; unusually protective, anxious or talkative dogs; or paper-trained dogs.

Boarding dogs are required to have a waiver on file at The Dog House NYC. You can fill it out in advance by printing it from this website or you can fill it out when you drop your dog off. Among other things, the waiver asks for emergency information (the name of your vet, your reach number, etc.) It also asks for your preferences in walking off-leash. It is strongly recommended that all dogs have a local vet, even if the vet they usually go to is outside the city. In an emergency, the last thing you want is for a doctor to refuse to see your dog because he/she is not a regular patient. The second-to-last thing is for you to be assessed a “new patient” exam fee in addition to whatever brought us there.
